Sixty thousand people, one cell tower, and a group chat stuck on sending… Everything you'd normally use to find a friend needs the internet, and the internet is the first thing a festival takes off you.

LIVE LOCATION ISN'T LIVE
Every share-my-location app is a round trip to a server. No server, no dot. Just a pin frozen where they stood an hour ago, which is worse than nothing.
MEET-AT-THE-FLAG NEVER WORKS
Someone's at the wrong flag, someone's in the bathroom line, someone went home. The plan you made at the gate doesn't survive the night.

THE CEREMONY
One of you starts the rave standing at the venue and holds up a QR. Everyone scans the same code. Each phone that drops in glows its own color, so you can name your friends while they're standing right there.

Everyone's a diamond on a wireframe field. The color is who they are, the ring is how far through the crowd their signal came, the glow is how fresh it is. One second, one look, no reading.
THE ARROW
Tap a name and the screen becomes one arrow and one distance. Hold your thumb on the reticle and sweep: it ticks in your palm when you're pointing the right way, so you can find someone without reading anything.

Start it standing at the venue. Its spot gets baked into the code, and everyone scans that code to join.

Your phones shout at each other. Strangers carry the echo.
Your phones put out small sealed signals that only your gang's key can open. Any other phone running RaveGang that hears one passes it along without ever being able to read it. In a crowd, the crowd is your network. That's the whole idea, and the rest is craft we'd rather show than explain.
OFF THE GRID ON PURPOSE
No towers, no wifi, no back end, nothing to log into. Put the phone in airplane mode and the radar carries on exactly as it was.
SEALED TO YOUR GANG
The key is made on your phone and never uploaded. The only copy that leaves is the invite you hand your friends, and nobody outside it can open a thing.
THE CROWD IS THE RANGE
Strangers with the app carry your sealed traffic without joining anything or seeing anyone. The busier the field, the further you reach.
BUILT FOR HOUR NINE
Deliberately frugal with the radio, because a finder that flattens your phone by midnight is not a finder.
IT FORGETS BY ITSELF
A rave expires on its own, and calling the FINALE ends it early: one shared RAVE COMPLETE, then the whole thing is gone from every phone that joins it.
ONE OPTIONAL DOWNLOAD
You can pull an offline street map of the venue before you go. Check that box or don't; it's the only moment the app uses the internet at all.
FOR FESTIVALS & EVENTS
The denser your crowd, the better it works.
Nothing goes on site: no beacons, no wifi, no back end, no data deal. Every attendee carrying the app relays everyone else's encrypted traffic, so coverage grows with how many people have it rather than with what you spend on kit. Fewer lost-friend reports at the info tent, fewer people going home early because they gave up looking.
No festival has run it yet. If you want to be the first, we'll work the weekend with you and publish what happened, good or bad.

The questions everyone asks.
Does it really work with no signal?
Yes, and that's the only way it works. Nothing in the finding path touches the internet: your phones talk straight to each other and hop through other RaveGang phones nearby. Airplane mode with Bluetooth on is a perfectly good way to run it. The one optional exception is the venue street map, which you can download at home before you go.
How far does it actually reach?
Honestly: it depends on bodies. Across an open field it's a long way; a wall of people between two phones eats a lot of it. That's what the relay is for, so your reach is the crowd's rather than one phone's, and newer phones stretch it further and pull the rest along. It's also why the radar counts hops instead of meters: it won't invent a number it can't measure.
Who can see where I am?
The people holding the key you handed out, and nobody else. Everything on the air is sealed with a key made on your phone, so the strangers relaying it can't read a thing. There's no account, no server and no log, which means there's no copy of your night anywhere. Set yourself to SOLO and your position stops going out at all, while you still show up as present.
What does it do to my battery?
It's built for hour nine at 8%. It sips the same kind of power your earbuds and your watch live on all day, and it spends more only when it has to. Plug a phone in and leave it still and the app says so: it becomes an anchor and quietly boosts the gang.
Do all my friends need it installed?
Everyone you want on the radar, yes. There's no phone number to look up, so the app on their phone is the only way yours can hear them, and it takes one scan of one QR at the gate. Strangers with the app help you without joining anything: they carry your sealed traffic and never see your gang.
Why isn't it on the Play Store yet?
Because it isn't finished being tested in the one place that counts, which is a real crowd. You're downloading the same signed build we run ourselves, straight from us. Android will ask you to allow the install because it didn't come from a store; that warning is Android doing its job, not a sign something is wrong. It goes on Play when the field testing says it's ready, and the app will never need an update to keep working offline.
When is the iPhone version out?
It's being built, and we're not going to invent a date. Leave your email below and you'll get one message when it lands, nothing else. Until then, one Android in the group can hold the gang together for everyone standing near it.
Is it free? What's the catch?
Free, no ads, no subscription, no account. There's no data to sell because none is ever collected and the app has nowhere to send it. If it ever earns money it'll be from festivals and events, not from you.
Get it before the gate, not at 2 AM.
Install it, drop the invite in the group chat while everyone still has bars, and scan the code when you meet. That's the whole setup.
